Indoor Activities in Orlando Perfect for a Rainy Day

During the summer months and into the early fall it is the rainy season in Orlando. That doesn’t mean that you have be stuck in the house with rainy day blues. There are plenty of indoor activities that you can do on a rainy day in Orlando. The entire family will have a great time at these indoor Orlando attractions.

America’s Escape Game

America’s Escape Game is one of the best escape rooms in the Orlando area. There are 6 different escape rooms for groups to tackle. Please note that these topics are a little more serious than other escape rooms, so they might be better for older kids. Escape Rooms include Crisis at 1600 where you need to stop a missile attack, Pandemic where you have to stop a deadly pathogen from being released and Caretaker where you have to find the caretaker and save him from a pack of mutant wolves. Everyone will have fun putting their skills to the test and trying to “escape” within the allotted time.

Andretti Indoor Karting and Games

A visit to Andretti’s is just perfect for a rainy day in Orlando. Even though karting is in the same, there are so many other fun activities to do inside. You can play video games, go for a drive on the kart track, play laser tag in their two-story laser tag arena, experience a virtual reality world and go bowling on there race-themed lanes. If the rain lasts for awhile, it’s no problem. Neither the kids, nor the adults will get bored inside.

Astro Skate

Rainy days are usually lazy days, but not at Astro Skate! Get moving and bring the whole family too. Located on Goldenrod Road, Astro Skate is a family-friendly skate rink with themed skating nights and offers skating lessons for the novices. Once you work up an appetite, check out the quick service café. If you want to take a break from skating, Astro Skate has an arcade that is out of this world!

Boardwalk Bowl

Boardwalk Bowl is one of the largest bowling alleys in Orlando. They have over 80 lanes for families to get their bowl on. Want to jazz up the games a little for the kids? Boardwalk Bowl offers a few different games that you can choose from which will make bowling more exciting for the kiddos. They can knock down buildings with Angry Birds, build funny faces from bowling a certain number of pins, play a monster game and more.

Chocolate Museum & Cafe

The Chocolate Museum & Cafe is one of the fun things to do in Orlando. Take a tour of the history of chocolate and how it was discovered. See the wonders of the world sculpted out of chocolate and at the end, you get to taste a variety of chocolate from around the world. There is a cafe attached to the museum, where you can get all sorts of chocolate goodies at the end of the tour.

Crayola Experience

Crayola Experience is a fun indoor experience in Orlando. Kids visit different exhibits/action stations inside Crayola Experience where they draw, paint, play with colors, make their own crayons and even learn how crayons are made. Crayola Experience also has an indoor playground that kids will love. Overall, there are 26 attractions inside that kids will love.

Dezerland

Dezerland is over 800,000 square feet of indoor fun, just perfect for a rainy day in Orlando. They have trampolines, where kids can bounce of the walls in a good way. They have a ThunderFoam battle arena powered by NERF, where you can battle your kids and see who has more skills, parents or kids. Drive the bumper cars, play on a variety of pinball machines in Pinball Palace, play games in the arcade or ride the 4D simulators. There is so much to do at Dezerland, we are certain that your kids won’t say those dreaded words of “I’m bored” while they are here. The Putting Edge, mini golf, Axecelsior Axe Throwing and The Auto Experience are also located at Dezerland.

Elev8

Elev8 is an all-in one family fun center located in Sanford. This is the prefect location for a rainy day, as there is so much to do under one roof. At Elev8 they have a huge arcade complete with retro games, a bowling alley, a laser tag arena, indoor go-karts and a climbing wall. They also have one of the only Omni arenas in the area. If everyone gets the munchies, no problem. Eleve8 has a restaurant where you can grab some great eats.

The Escape Game Orlando

Escape rooms have jumped into the limelight in the past couple of years and Orlando has a bunch of different options. If you have a family of varying ages this is a great place to go. The Escape Game is one of the bigger escape rooms in Orlando with 7 rooms. You can break out of prison, pull off the ultimate art heist, finish all your school assignments so you can get to the playground and more. Games vary in difficulty and are great for large groups.

Florida Mall

Florida Mall is not just “any ole mall”. It is one of the best indoor attractions in the Orlando area. At the mall you have American Girl which has fun activities for girls and their dolls, Orlando Wall Crawl where you can take fun photos at different backdrops, the Crayola Experience where you can do fun color activities and the Slime Factory Orlando where kids can create fun slime creations. Florida Mall has family-friendly attractions for kids of all ages. After your full day of activities, grab some lunch or dinner at the mall.

GameTime

If you love arcade games, then you will want to check out GameTime. There are two locations in the Orlando area, one in Kissimmee and one in Ocoee. Both locations are over 24,000 square feet with a variety of arcade games, carnival games, retro arcade games, mini bowling and more. There is also a restaurant inside with a lot of great eats such as burgers, nachos, wings and more.

iFly

Go skydiving, but indoors. iFly Orlando is located on International Drive, near a lot of other fun attractions. iFly indoor skydiving is an exciting experience and great if you have a couple of daredevils at home. It’s so much fun to go up in the wind tunnel and simulate what it will feel like to skydive. On your last dive, you even get to do some fun tricks; that’s if you want to.

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum

Madame Tussauds Orlando is located at ICON Park which is a great alternative to a day at the theme parks whether you are an Orlando local or on an Orlando vacation. Inside Madame Tussauds you can take pictures with famous inventors, presidents, celebrities and sports stars. Kids will love the DC room where they can help Superman hold up a helicopter, shine the bat-signal to summon batman and run with the flash.

Main Event

Main Event is multiple experiences in one! The entire family can enjoy the Gravity Ropes course, where you can test your skills on the balance beam, on the tightrope and on the swinging rope bridges. You can do kids vs. adults at a game of bowling and see who comes out victorious, play some games in the arcade and defend yourselves in a game of laser tag. The adults in the group can also teach the kids how to play billiards, just make sure they don’t “run the table”.

Monkey Joe’s

If your kids love jumping on giant inflatables, then you will want to take them to Monkey Joe’s. They have tons of giant inflatables, slides, jungle playgrounds, an arcade and more. Instead of having the kids bounce of the walls at home due to boredom, they can bounce on the inflatables at Monkey Joe’s instead.

Museum of Illusions Orlando

Stuck inside? Well, let your imagination run free at the Museum of Illusions in Orlando. Located in ICON Park, the Museum will have you questioning everything you see and touch. All of the illusions are fun and mind blowing and educational too. After visiting the Museum, you will learn how science plays a role in almost everything we see! Reservations are required and better pricing is offered if tickets are purchased online.

Orlando Cat Cafe

There is nothing better on a rainy day than cuddling up with a cat. Don’t have a furry friend at home? Take the kids to the Orlando Cat Cafe. They have 12 to 15 cats at all times and guests can enter the cat play area and cuddle with and pet the cats. If the kids just want to watch the cat antics, they can do that too. They have a large viewing window where you can watch the cats play, while you enjoy a drink and a pastry.

Orange County Regional History Center

The Orange County Regional History Center shows the history of Orange County from the original settlers through European occupation. It shows their way of life, including where they lived, how they lived off the land and what they ate. It also shows what life was like pre-Disney and how Orlando evolved into a theme park destination. There are 3 floors of exhibits to explore at the Orange County Regional History Museum. The entire museum is housed in a historic courthouse and there is still an original courtroom that can be seen.

Orlando Science Center

The Orlando Science Center is a fun place to visit, rain or shine! But on a rainy day, you could spend hours enjoying all the hands – on activities there. Best part? There is something for the entire family to do. Kids of all ages will enjoy KidsTown, creating and learning about storms, going on a fossil dig and seeing dinosaur bones, doing science experiments,  watching Science Live! shows that bring science to life in a fun and engaging way. You won’t want to miss a show in the CineDome where you are transported into different lands from your seat. The entire family will have a good time at the Orlando Science Center.

Orlando Wall Crawl

Looking to take some fun family pictures? Then check out Orlando Wall Crawl. You may think that Orlando Wall Crawl is just for Instagrammers, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. You can take some fun family photos, Christmas pics, birthday party pics and more at Orlando Wall Crawl. Kids will have fun exploring all the different walls (there are more than 20) and coming up with fun poses for each one.

Pinspiration

Most kids love doing arts and crafts, but they leave a huge mess behind. At Pinspiration they welcome the mess! They have a splatter room where kids get to splatter paint and create unique paintings. They also have more contained projects such as painting tiles, fairy gardens, ceramics and more. This is a great way to spend an hour or two on a rainy day.

Planet Obstacle

Planet Obstacle is the world’s largest indoor obstacle park. They have lots of fun trampolines for kids to bounce on to get the fidgets out, including regular trampolines, basketball trampolines and foam pits as well. They also have a fun super slide where kids can go up as high as they feel comfortable before going down the slide. They also have an indoor ropes course, go-karts and rock climbing walls. Planet Obstacle also has two ninja warrior courses, one for adults and one for kids. There is so much to do here, kids will be entertained for hours.

Putting Edge

Mini golf is fun, but add being indoors, a glow-in-the-dark course, and an arcade, and you have Putting Edge on International Drive. Each hole has something new and fun to see and will be great rainy day fun for the whole family. Keep in mind that Putting Edge is a cashless business so if reservations are not made online, be sure to bring a debit or credit card to make payments. Rainy day hours will fly by while you are here!

RDV Ice Den

You may be surprised to learn that there is ice skating in Orlando. Yes, it is on real ice, and it is not just during the holidays either. RDV Ice Den has ice skating year round. RDV Ice Den offers public skating sessions daily; Fridays and Saturdays, they offer public sessions in the evenings. You don’t have to have your own skates, as skate rental is included with the entrance fee. While it may be hot outside, it is really cool inside RDV Ice Den. It is recommended to wear long pants and a sweatshirt or jacket to stay warm on the ice.

SEA LIFE Aquarium

It’s raining outside, and we live on a peninsula, so why not go to an aquarium? Sea Life Orlando Aquarium in ICON Park is an educational and fun experience for the entire family. There are nine different interactive zones to learn about ocean life SEA LIFE Aquarium has Florida’s only 360 degree Ocean Tunnel where visitors can walk under fish, sharks, and other aquatic life. Visit the Coastal Rockpool where you can touch real sea life and learn about their environments. Make sure to stop by and see the sea turtles.

Splitsville

Strike it up at Splitsville! Located in Disney Springs, it is not your basic bowling alley. Enjoy playing a few games against family, friends, or another team and then when you are done, head over to the concession area where you will find some pretty yummy eats!

The Kitty Beautiful

A cat café?! That’s right, in the heart of downtown Orlando, The Kitty Beautiful is a great rainy day activity. Have a fun lunch at the café of sandwiches, soups, and little noshes and then head over to the other side of the café where the real fun begins. The Kitty Beautiful has partnered with a local non-profit rescue that allows them to have at least fifteen adorable cats that are ready for adoption.  Reservations are strongly recommended.

WonderWorks

Located on International Drive, WonderWorks is a great way to spend a rainy day with the family. There are so many things to do inside this family-friendly atrraction in Orlando. Besides the amazing exhibits at WonderWorks, the kiddos can enjoy their day with the ropes courses, laser tag, a theater, and even dinner comedy shows. After a full day of fun, enjoy lunch at the Wonder Café then check out their unique gift shop.
