Take Gaming to Another Level at Mind Immersions

If your kids are anything like mine, they love playing games on their iPads, phones, computers, and gaming systems. While those are a lot of fun for all involved, I thought we could step it up a notch and visit Mind Immersions Virtual Reality Experience for an even better gaming experience. We were definitely not disappointed and the entire family had a good time.

As the name says, Mind Immersions is a place where you can play various virtual reality games. The gaming studio is divided into three main sections: individual game rooms, motion games, and group games. In all areas, the player or players get to decide what game they want to play. If you are unsure what to play, the staff will make suggestions.

In the individual gaming rooms, you will find games such as Beat Saber and Fruit Ninja, that are for solo players. In the motion games section, there are roller coaster simulators and racing games. Here you can play on your own or compete with other players next to you. In the group gaming area, you can play with 2 to 4 players. This is great for a family or group of friends. In the group area, the game is also on a gigantic screen which makes the experience even more immersive.

My 10-year old and husband started out in the individual gaming room and had a fantastic time playing there. My 5-year old and I tried out the group gaming. I found that it was a bit too difficult for him, and he was too small for some of the cameras to find him. Mind Immersions recommends their gaming studio for kids 8 and older. Based on my experience, I would say that age recommendation is accurate. That said, they did have plenty of iPads loaded with games that my 5-year old thoroughly enjoyed playing on for the hour that we were there.

I tried the group gaming again with my 10-year old and it was a wholly different experience. We played two games, and had fun playing both. In the first game, we had a food truck and were filling orders for customers. I was terrible; I set the place on fire twice and only managed to serve one order. My daughter kept yelling, “mom, go faster.” We then played an alien bug shooting game which I was much better at. I don’t know what this says about my life skills, but it was fun.

Cost

At Mind Immersions, you pay for the amount of time that you want to play. Packages start at $22.50 for 30 minutes and go up to $67.50 for two hours. On Wednesdays they have a phenomenal deal where you pay $30 to play as much as you want.

Tips for visiting Mind Immersions

– I would recommend visiting on a weekday or when they open on a Sunday as it will be quieter
– Go as a group. It will be more fun to play games together.
– Your purchase is for time in-studio, not playing, so if it is busy you will get less playing time.
– If you get nauseous on VR rides like I do, you can still play. Just skip the motion rides such as car racing or rollercoasters.
– Mind Immersions serves alcohol and has a nice seating area, so it would be a great way to spend some time with your significant other while the kids play.
