I was looking for one last getaway before the summer came to a close in order to have some fun in the Florida sun. I wanted somewhere close by and on the beach. Daytona Beach seemed to fit the bill. I had never been so this was the perfect opportunity to visit. Once I saw that there was a Hard Rock Hotel there, I was sold. My son and I went up for the weekend and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Where is the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach located?

Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach is located right on the beach. You have great panoramic ocean views from your room if you have an Oceanfront room, from the viewing balcony at the hotel, and from the pool area. What is also important to note is that Daytona Beach has a drive-on beach, except for the section by the Hard Rock Hotel. So your family can feel perfectly safe playing on the beach knowing that no cars are going to be driving by.

The hotel is within walking distance from the main strip in Daytona Beach which has plenty of restaurants and gift shops to explore. If you want to visit the Speedway or the Museum of Arts and Sciences while there, which we did, you are only a short drive away.

Guest Rooms at Hard Rock Hotel

We had an Oceanfront Deluxe Room with a balcony. It was great to sit outside with a cup of tea in the morning or glass of wine in the evening and just watch the water (literally one of my favorite things to do). My 8-year-old also enjoyed the balcony as well as it was the perfect spot to hang out and play Roblox with his friends.

The room itself was comparable in size to other beach hotels that we have stayed in for family vacations. We had two Queen sized beds, which is always a huge plus for me as a mom, as there is more space when kids have to share a bed. The room also had a desk and a decent-sized bathroom with designer toiletries. As most people donโ€™t come to the beach to stay in the room all day, the room is perfect in size for what we needed it for.

Each of the hotel rooms is named after a different musician, which I didnโ€™t notice, but my 8-year old pointed out to me. After he did, we went along the hallway looking at the names of the different rooms. I did recognize a lot of them, which was a plus in my book.

Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach Legendary Amenities

The hotel has a large oceanfront pool with ample seating and cabanas (extra cost to rent one for the day). We saw a good number of families hanging out at the pool while we were there. One of the really cool features of this outdoor pool is that it has underwater speakers, so you can rock out while swimming also. My son was very excited to discover this.

Make sure to bring along a swim vest for the kids. This one isย perfect to take to the pool.

The hotel also has an on-site kids club with video games, board games, crafts and more that kids can enjoy. Hours for the kids club vary by day, so you have to check what time the club will be open that day. It is also important to note that it is not a drop-off program. Parents do need to remain with the kids in the kids club.

The hotel has a coffee shop, Constant Grind, and a restaurant, Sessions Restaurant, where you can grab eats. Constant Grind serves coffees and teas, as well as a variety of food options including pastries, sandwiches, quick snacks and homemade gelato all day. Sessions Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a buffet brunch on the weekends. Also, donโ€™t fret, you are also able to order food at the pool; if you are having a great day lounging about, you donโ€™t have to pack up to grab something to eat. We ate all our meals at the hotel and did enjoy everything that we ordered. That said, do expect to pay a bit of a premium as it is a hotel restaurant.

The hotel provides complimentary wireless internet access, which is a plus, as many hotels still do not offer this. The hotel also offers 24-hour room service and has a fitness center, Body Rockยฎ Fitness Centre, if you want to work out on your getaway, and there is an onsite spa, Rock Spaยฎ if you want to get in some pampering.

The hotel offers valet parking or self parking across the street. As it was only a small difference in cost, we went with the valet parking.

While this may not be a traditional amenity, the hotel itself is decorated in memorabilia from different artists including instruments and costumes. Most of the memorabilia are on the ground floor and the half floor above near the restaurant and cafรฉ, but there are items on each floor as well when you come off of the elevator.

A Cool Feature of the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach

When we checked in at the front desk, they asked us if we wanted to borrow a guitar or record player for the duration of our stay. My son wanted to borrow a guitar, no he doesnโ€™t know how to play but that didnโ€™t stop him.

They have six different guitars to choose from and these are high-quality Fender guitars. They give you the guitar along with a guitar stand and amp. I was worried about the amount of noise the guitar would make and they said they had never had any. I donโ€™t know if no one else on our floor had a guitar, but we never heard noise from any other room.

My son had a great time โ€œrocking outโ€ in our room and it truly was a highlight of the stay for him.

Cost of Staying at the Daytona Beach Hard Rock Hotel

Room rates at the hotel start around $230 for a City View Room during the week and go up to around $1300 per night for a Rockstar one bedroom on the weekend. That said, if you are looking for a room on the weekend, you will probably pay around $400 per night.

Things to Note

The on-site Wave Terrace has a waterfront stage where live music is played on the weekend. If you have small kids, I would not advise getting an Oceanfront room on weekends due to the noise from the concerts.

Check-in time at the hotel is 4:00pm. Check-out time at the hotel is 11:00am. The hotel does offer express check-out.

There is a $39 per night resort fee per room.

Things to do Nearby the Hotel

The Daytona International Speedway is around 15 minutes from the hotel and is definitely worth a visit. Make sure to stop at the Motorsports Hall of Fame which is onsite at the speedway. The Museum of Arts and Science is also a must-visit; it is a museum that kids will actually like. They have a train car exhibit, tribal mask exhibit, a Coca-Cola exhibit, a planetarium and scavenger hunts that kids can do in the different galleries. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Museum is also a nearby attraction worth visiting. You can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. Make sure to dress in cool clothing as it is very hot inside the lighthouse.

Go or No Go

The Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach is a great place for a weekend getaway for the family. The distance is not too far from Orlando so you wonโ€™t get too many are-we-there-yets from the kids and the hotel has everything you need for a getaway. You can just drive, park and stay the entire time; no moving around and lugging items to and fro. I plan to return so that my daughter can experience the hotel as well.

We were hosted by the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach to facilitate this review. As always, all opinions are our own.
