Take an Airboat Tour

Take a ride through the Everglades and discover the beauty of these protected swamps, marshes, and rivers. Explore and learn about the unique animals that live there, the ecosystem, and spot alligators sunning on the banks or swimming in the water.  Airboat tours can range in times of day and duration, making it easier to fit the experience that’s right for you.  Hold on to your hat, airboats can skim the water up to 45 miles an hour.

Visit the Gardens

The gardens in and around Orlando are simply beautiful.  They are lush with local plants and flowers and beautifully maintained.  Taking a walk through the gardens is an excellent way to get outside if you’re not too big on the adventurous side of Orlando.  If you’re looking for something more than a stroll, a few local gardens offer experiences such as butterfly encounters, movie nights, and classes.  My kiddos love finding new

Go on a Helicopter Tour

A Helicopter tour is another way to soar above Orlando with the kiddos.  Take in the sites of the city and theme parks from around 1,000 feet. Some of the helicopter tours that you can take kiddos on are Air Force Fun, Orlando Heli ToursMax Flight Heli and Leading Edge Helicopter.

Take a Hot Air Balloon Ride

Soar up to 2,500 feet high overlooking Orlando on a hot air Balloon ride.  Take in the beauty of the everglades, orange groves, theme parks, and more.  A variety of companies in Orlando offer rides. Check out Orlando Balloon FlightsPainted HorizonsBob’s Balloons and Orlando Balloon Adventures.

Eat a Local Sweet Treat

I just feel like it wouldn’t be right to sign off without sharing these yummy, local, handmade ice cream shops we have here in Orlando.  They host delicious flavors, unique finds, and even vegan options! Enjoy! Two of our local ice cream shops that offer delicious treats are The Greenery Creamery and Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Visit a Museum

The unique culture of Orlando can be seen, in part, through the museums around our area.  From children’s museums, wax museums, to art and history, and exhibits.  Orlando museums provide opportunities to learn through interactive play as well as walking tours through the city’s history.

Take In a Play or Show

It’s refreshing to see a city that has so much opportunity for outdoor activities and adventure also have a place for the arts.  Taking in a broadway show or a play with the kiddos is easy and fun.  Some great places to see shows are Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts and Orlando Repertory Theatre.

Visit a Smaller Amusement Park

While Orlando is known for the big 3 amusement parks, there are smaller amusement parks in Orlando that are also worth a visit.  ICON Park hosts unique attractions including The Wheel and the Orlando Starflyer.  Visit Gatorland to learn more about Gators, ride their zipline and go on an off-road adventure. FunSpot America is a smaller amusement park with fun carnival rides.  Ride the Carousel, the tea cups, the ferris wheel, the bumper boats and more and reminisce about your childhood while introducing the kids to some good old fashioned fun.

Visit a State Park

The State Parks in the Orlando area are full of fun activities.  Have an adventure camping, swimming or tubing in natural springs, hiking trails or venturing off the beaten path.  It’s an excellent way to get outside and enjoy nature as a family.  Some of the State Parks we recommend checking out are Wekiwa Springs State Park and Blue Spring State Park.

Go Ziplining

Ziplining is such an invigorating sport that builds confidence!  My kiddos love ziplining and are so proud of themselves when they complete the ride.  Zip through tree tops, over animals, or indoors, Orlando has plenty of options so you can choose the best experience for you.
