Cocoa Village in Brevard County is one of the oldest riverside communities in Florida.  It is a mix of old and new that is fun for the young and the young and heart.  Cocoa Village is only about an hour from Orlando and it makes a great day out with the kids.

Cocoa Riverfront Park

Cocoa Riverfront Park offers residents and visitors almost ten acres of riverfront views and a great area for families to enjoy all the park’s amenities.  there’s a huge playground area for the kiddos, volleyball area, an amphitheater to enjoys shows all year long, and areas when the family can go fishing, do water sports, or launch a boat where the entire family can enjoy the day at sea.

DA Bakeshop

Stop into DA Bake Shop for some cupcake treats. No super dry cupcakes here! They offer unique cupcake flavors such as caramel apple, mint chocolate chip, raspberry lemon and unicorn.

Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse

Known as “Broadway in Brevard,” the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse is a must see if you are in the neighborhood.  Local performers put on great shows and during the summer, there is a theater camp for budding artists.

Historic Cocoa Village Walking Tour

What a great way to learn all about Cocoa Village and why it is so “historic.”  Take the family on the self-guided Historic Cocoa Village Walking Tour and visit locations like the Derby Street Chapel, the Porcher House, the Playhouse, and more.  It is self paced so you can stay longer at some of the locations that may interest you more than others.

Magic Dove Magic Shop

If you have a budding magician or prankster in your midst, then bring them to the Magic Dove Magic Shop.  Dr. Dan and the crew have tons of fun in the store including magic supplies and a host of magic tricks for the beginner to the expert.  They even offer a Magic club for children 7 to 17 that meets Friday nights.

Painting With a Twist

This is usually an adult only spot, but Painting With a Twist in Cocoa Village offers family nights where children seven and over get to paint gorgeous take home canvases.  You can book a private event as well where the whole family can take over the joint however, the recommended age for children participating is still seven and older.

Pirate Store

If you are a history buff and want something different to do with your family, then you need to visit the Antilles Trading Company, better known as the Pirate Store.  With more than 300 artifacts from the past, your kiddos will be transported back into the time of pirates and seadogs.  You can do a scavenger hunt too and when you’re done, you will get some booty of your own!

Rec 225

There is something for everyone in your family at Rec 225.  This local hotspot is one big game night with areas to play darts, board games, cornhole, and billiards along with   It is family friendly until 8pm; after 8pm, it is for 21 and older.  It’s not just all fun and games there because the eats are just as good too.

Village Food Tour

Cocoa Village has quite a few fun and different eateries.  If you would like to sample a few of them, try the Village Food Tours.  The tour is goes for about 2 to 3 hours and covers approximately a mile and a half.  There is a cost for this and you should bring extra cash if you would like to make other purchases.

Village Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop

What’s better than visiting a new place?  Well, checking out their ice cream shop, of course!  The Village Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop does not disappoint either.  They have all the usual favorites and a few new ones that are sure to become favorites.  You can enjoy your delicious treat while strolling through the Village or sit on the quaint bench right outside the shop.

In addition to the activities above, Cocoa Village has several boutiques (many of them local) to explore as well as a great variety of restaurants. It is definitely a great day out for the family.
