10 Tasty Pie Shops in Orlando to Celebrate American Pie Month

Ready to dig in? Here are ten delicious destinations in Greater Orlando to have a sweet slice with your little sweetie pie.

national pie month

Backhaus German Bakery

2355 W. Old Hwy 441, Mount Dora | the-backhaus.com

Move over German pretzels… we’re talking about pies! The flavors of Germany await in the cozy town of Mount Dora. Aside from hearty sausages and potato salad, Backhaus offers an array of dessert items. You’ll find plenty of crumbly cookies, flaky croissants and more, but your taste buds need to experience the many tarts that help fill Backhaus with mouthwatering aromas. All fruit tarts, like the cherry tart and lemon tart, are made with organic fruits; and the chocolate ganache tart is made with Swiss chocolate. Perhaps your little PB&J prince or princess will most enjoy the rich peanut butter mousse tart.

Blue Bayou Farms

8222A County Road 48, Yalaha | yalahabootleggingco.com

For a fun family activity in a quaint nearby town, head to this charming u-pick farm for straight off-the-bush fruit pickings. Alongside the apple of your eye, the flavorful act of picking is great in and of itself but, for an added cherry on top, definitely purchase some fresh ready-to-slice pies. The regular sweet pie selection includes blueberry, apple and, especially ideal for little ones learning the alphabet, ABC pie (that’s apple, blueberry and cranberry). Regular savory selections include tomato leek pie, chicken pot pie and Soprano pizza pie.

Charlie’s Gourmet Pastries

3213 Curry Ford Road, Orlando | charliesbakery.com

Charlie’s Gourmet Pastries, located in the Conway community, is celebrating its golden anniversary (pssst… that’s 50 years). Their secret to success is, well, premier ingredients. In fact, Charlie’s slogan is “Butter makes the difference.” And I am sure we can all agree on that, right?! The owner of this family run business just retired in January, but the new owner says she’ll continue baking Charlie’s longstanding favorites, like the Key lime pie, plus add homemade ice cream to the mix. Loyal customers keep coming back to Charlie’s for custard pies, including the lemon meringue, coconut, banana and chocolate. Seasonal pie offerings also include apple, blueberry, cherry and peach.

Perkins

Multiple Orlando locations | perkinsrestaurants.com

Perkins probably doesn’t come to mind when you think of celebratory holidays but, let’s be honest, it’s one of the nation’s leading family restaurants so you won’t have to worry about wrangling in the kids all that much! Perkins was founded in 1958 as a pancake house, then went on to expand its menu and, in 1986, launch its in-store bakery which offers fruit pies, cream pies, cookies, signature Mammoth Muffins and more. Opt for something really decadent, like peanut butter silk pie, featuring layers of chocolate, peanut butter silk, real whipped cream and mini chocolate peanut butter cups. Similarly, the coconut cream pie and banana cream pie will be yummy in your tummy. For a lighter bite, go wild with the wildberry pie, filled with seasonal ripe berries that’ll leave you berry happy indeed.

Pie of the Beholder

307 Woodlark Drive, Davenport | pieofthebeholder.square.site

OK, while whoopie pie includes the word ‘pie,’ these treats are technically two pieces of cake sandwiched together with whipped cream filling (and, thus, not a traditional pie per se). Still, since whoopie pies are such a kid-friendly treat, they deserve some love too. Pie of the Beholder has seven whoopie pie flavors, including original chocolate with vanilla cream, chocolate covered strawberry, double chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip and snickerdoodle. Get your sugar fix with these via pick-up or delivery. And, for those booking a staycation, Pie of the Beholder offers free delivery to Disney resorts with code DISNEY.

P is for Pie Bake Shop

2806 Corrine Drive, Orlando | crazyforpies.com

Nestled in the Audubon Park Garden District, this small-batch artisan bakery allows pie lovers to feast on pies during mealtimes (and not just for dessert). Breakfast hand pies are filled with egg, potato and cheddar or sausage gravy. For lunch, savory hand pie favorites include chicken pot pie and buffalo chicken. But P is for Pie really impresses when it comes to its many dessert options. Try the hand pies, like brandied apple or strawberry basil; mini pies, like chocolate bourbon pecan or salted honey lavender; Mason jar pies, like vanilla bean cheesecake or apple cobbler; whoopee pies, like oatmeal with cinnamon spiced cream cheese; and whole pies, like PB&J chess and coconut chocolate ganache. Because P is for Pie utilizes seasonal ingredients, the menu is ever-changing so check their social media sites for the latest and greatest offerings.

Se7en Bites

617 N. Primrose Drive, Orlando | se7enbites.com

Serving breakfast, brunch and lunch in the Milk District, Se7en Bites serves up Southern comfort food and nostalgic baked goods with a modern twist. That includes, of course, a chicken pot pie that was given the seal of approval by celebrity chef Guy Fieri on an episode of Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Guy also loved the Vanilla Bean Bourbon Bacon Nighttime Skypie — and you won’t be able to resist this one either! Oh, this stuffed graham cracker treat might be reserved for adults only if the bourbon flavor is a concern (sorry kiddos). But the oatmeal cream pie will satisfy all! The mini pies also deliver big time taste, as with the salted caramel dark chocolate pecan flavor.

Sister Honey’s

247 E. Michigan Street, Orlando | sisterhoneys.com

Evette Rahman says her mother’s nickname was “Honey,” so sweetness really is the name of the game at this bakery located in the SODO District. Sister Honey’s kicks up baked classics, as with its black cherry pie, packed with black sweet cherries, tart cherry juices and an almond crumb topping. Other baked choices include apple, peach blueberry, strawberry rhubarb and pumpkin strudel. But the “cold” pies are among the hottest hits, such as the strawberry cream, featuring two layers strawberries mixed with creamy strawberry filling, coconut cookie crust, fresh whipped cream and strawberry garnish. Other colds include coconut cream, lemon meringue, Key lime, peanut butter satin and chocolate cream. And for something a bit more bite-sized, try the pecan tartlets. Definitely plan ahead though. You see, Sister Honey’s is so beloved that the shop recommends placing orders up to two weeks in advance.

Valhalla Bakery

2603 East South Street, Orlando | valhallabakery.com

A sister site to the scrumptious Valkyrie Doughnuts, Valhalla Bakery is the best bet for those following a vegan diet (although these pies are not gluten-free). Valhalla standard 9-inch pie flavors are coconut cream, chocolate cream, banana cream, apple, cherry and blueberry. For convenience, place your order online and then pick up at Market on South, which also houses Dharma Southern Kitchen, in the outskirts of Downtown Orlando.

Winter Park Pie Company

1901 Gipson Green Lane, Winter Park | winterparkpie.com

Want the taste of homemade without messing up your own kitchen? Winter Park Pie Company to the rescue. This pie maker offers delivery to locals (zip codes: 32789, 32751, 32810, 32792, 32714, 32701, 32707, 32803, 32804, 32801 and 32814) and/or coordinates pickups for other surrounding areas. Owner Teri Blais says her mother influenced her love of baking goodies, and now she’s on a mission to share that same sweet goodness with others. All pies are 11″ deep dish and freshly baked with homemade crust and loaded with fresh fruit, nuts or creamy fillings, plus Winter Park Pie Company also offers other baked treats. The menu has some really unique options, like the gingered pear raspberry pie with oatmeal walnut topping, which comes together using Bartlett pears, ginger, cinnamon and sweet berries. Another standout is the strawberry, mango coconut pie, also with oatmeal walnut topping, which beautifully amplifies a combination of tropical flavors.
