Ice Skating in Orlando

There is nothing more quintessentially winter than ice skating. It doesn’t matter how hot it is outside, you can wear your gloves, your scarf, and your toque, and pretend that you’re racing in the Olympics. Or if you prefer, hold hands with someone special, and skate around together. Since we don’t live in Alaska, the many lakes here aren’t going to freeze over any time soon, but here are some options for ice skating Orlando this winter.

Year -Round Ice Skating in Orlando

Funtania Family Fun Center

Funtania is an indoor family fun center featuring a synthetic ice rink, an escape room, bumper cars, bounce house, jungle gym and more. They have lots of fun activities for the kids.

The Ice Factory of Central Florida

The Ice Factory of Central Florida is a year-round skating facility is home to two rinks – a hockey-sized main rink and a smaller “studio rink” that allows for more public skating time. In addition, the Ice Factory has figure skating and ice hockey lessons and classes. Skating sessions are two-three hours long and admission is either $8 or $12, depending on when you go. Skate rental is $2 for standard skates or $5 for padded skates.

RDV Ice Den

RDV Ice Den is a  year-round skating rink has music to dance to while you glide along on the ice. There are several public skates each day, along with hockey and figure skating lessons (and open stick-and-puck time if you want to get some shooting practice in). Price to skate varies based upon when you go, but starts at $7.28 plus tax. Skate rental is $3.75 plus tax.

If your child loves to ice skate, then getting them their own ice skates might make sense.  These are great starter skates that come with trainers (like bicycle training wheels) for kids.

Holiday Season Only Ice Skating in Orlando

Celebration’s Now Snowing 

Celebration’s Now Snowing is a month-long celebration of winter, running from November 27 until December 31 each evening in Celebration, Florida. It features snowfall every evening, as well as carolers, carriage rides, visits from Santa, a holiday train, as well as ice skating (synthetic ice rink).  Ice skating is from 4pm to 10pm every night.

Light Up UCF (closed for 2021)

One of the many attractions at Light Up UCF, come skate on Orlando’s largest outdoor rink while listening to music. Bonus points if you can do a spin on the ice. Ice skating is $12 per session for the general public, but cheaper for UCF students. In addition, there is a $75 unlimited skating pass available.

SeaWorld

SeaWorld is once again offering ice skating at the Bayside Stadium alongside the water of SeaWorld’s central lagoon. Crew length socks and gloves are required. $15 per person to skate, includes skate rental. (Park admission is required and additional)
