For the next 4 weeks, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage month in Orlando. During this month we recognize the contributions that Hispanic and Latino Americans have made to the United States and we are able to teach our children about Hispanic and Latino culture – we can do this the rest of the year too, there is just more to take advantage of during this month. Here are a few different ways to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month in Orlando:
Check out the Osceola Arts exhibit Celebrating Hispanic Artists and Culture. The exhibit honors the diversity of Hispanics in Central Florida and features a variety of pieces.
Go to the Library
Orange County Libraries have numerous programs during Hispanic Heritage Month including cooking classes, dance, crafts, lectures and more.
Read a Book
The Kids Guide to Latino History features more than 50 hands on games and crafts that you can do with kids while learning about Latino history.
My Name is Celia is a bilingual book about the life of Celia Cruz and how she became a famous singer.
Festival Calle Orange has 3 stages with over 30 artists performing. There are Latin American foods and products on sale as well. Even though it happens a few weeks after Hispanic Heritage Month is over, it is still worth attending.
