Free Activities in the Orlando Area In April

Spring is coming, and with it comes the enjoyable weather we love in Central Florida.  Before the heat kicks it up a notch, there are some fun FREE events coming in April.  There are plenty of fun opportunities on this list for those who are choosing to stay home or for those venturing out a bit.

Tom West U Pick Soft Opening

Join Tom West Blueberries for their soft opening for U-Pick blueberries. Join in on the fun, shop, and pick your own blueberries at Tom West.  Admission and parking are free.  Blueberries, products, and activities available with varied pricing, including their boat and tractor rides that are open on the weekends.

Fiesta in the Park

Fiesta in the Park at Lake Eola is an arts and crafts festival series in Orlando.  Enjoy live entertainment, food, a kids area, and browse art from local artists.

Full STEAM Ahead

Full STEAM Ahead is a virtual construction science class for 3 – 6 year olds and will  focus on STEAM.  Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.  Pre-Registration is required so that you receive a project kit and the class link, limited spots available.

Page Turner Adventures

Join Page Turner as she walks you through this virtual Silly Mixed up Fairytale. This starts off week 1 of the event brought to you by Winter Park Public Library. Join each day in April for comedy story theater shows, crafts, recipes, author interviews, guest performers, and much more.  Ages K-7.

Jazz Appreciation Month Art Class

Jazz Appreciation Month Art Class presented by Central Florida Community Arts is a virtual art class hosted by local artist JJ Gonzalez Acosta.  Pre-Registration is required and a supply list is available.

Kite Day

Avalon Park will host another fun day of Kite Flying and Free Kite making for kids.  Make your free Kite and then let the professional Kite Flyers teach you how to fly them!  Join in to get started on your own kite creation.  For more information call 407-208-1455.

Healthy Living Festival

Join Lake Catherine Blueberry Farm for their 1st annual Lake Catherine Blueberry 5K and Health Festival.  After the 5k, join in for a fun day at the free to the public Healthy Living Festival.  Enjoy food demonstrations and samples, health screenings, information, health care providers, vendors of healthy products, craft stations, a kid zone, and blueberry picking.

Orlando Cars and Coffee

Orlando Cars and Coffee is a recurring family friendly event.   On the 2nd Sunday of each month join Donut Central and Fuelpresso Inc. as they host this Cars and Coffee event.  Different cars come out each month from classics, to custom built, to high end exotics.

Zoom Family Trivia Night

Join SCPL as they host Zoom Family Trivia Night, the Wimpy Kid and Friends Edition.  My kiddos are all about these books right now.  If your kiddo is too, how fun will this trivia night be?  Trivia will be on Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid.  The winning family team will take home a copy of Rowley Jefferson’s Awesome Friendly Spooky Stories.  Pre-Registration is required.

Join SCPL for Earth Day Stories and Crafternoon.  This fun virtual class will feature stories, songs, and crafts to celebrate Earth Day.  Pre-Registration is required and be sure to pick up your craft bag early from any Seminole County Library.  Ages 3-7 & families.

Arts in April

Arts in April is a family friendly art celebration hosted by Winter Garden Art Association, the City of Winter Garden, and other sponsors to showcase art in the community.  All day activities and parking are free.  Including the 3 story parking garage located at 160 S. Boyd St.   The celebration is part of the month long Arts in April initiative to support local artists and art organizations that have suffered from the pandemic.  A complete guide to Arts in April can also be found on the link.

Zoomin at the Zoo

Winter Park Public Library hosts Zoomin at the Zoo again this month.  Families can log on to get an up close view and learn about the animals at CFL Zoo, Live from the classroom located inside the zoo.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask the CFL Zoo Education Team questions about the animals they get to meet.  Pre-Registration is required as space is limited.  You will receive the zoom link via email.

April Movie Under the Stars

Avalon Park hosts April Movie Under the Stars.  Join them for the movie Boss Baby at Avalon Park, Orlando.  Movie starts promptly at 7pm.  Guests are asked to follow CDC guidelines.

Mt. Dora Blueberry Festival

Join in at the Mt. Dora Blueberry Festival as they celebrate the peak of blueberry season.  Local blueberry farms will sell freshly picked blueberries and other blueberry products.   There will be crafts, live music, a pie eating contest, and more.  The event is free to enter.

Central Florida Earth Day

Central Florida Earth Day is a family friendly and dog friendly event held at Lake Eola Park.  Join them for an early morning 5k or join in the It’s Just Yoga festival that will coincide with the Earth Day event.  This is a vegan event with lots of food, food prep, demonstrations, kids corner, art, information on dogs in need, and more.

We Love Jazz
