Avian Reconditioning Center

The Avian Reconditioning Center is a bird-of-prey rehabilitation facility dedicated to educating the community about Florida’s raptors. It is open to the public every Saturday (weather permitting) and offers free admission (donations are appreciated).  It also offers several community events throughout the year.

Disney Wilderness Preserve

This 11,500-acre preserve began as a partnership between The Nature Conservancy and the Walt Disney Company. Visitors can hike miles of color-coded nature trails leading to the headwaters of the Everglades, while enjoying Florida’s wildlife and natural beauty.  There is also a eco-friendly education center and butterfly garden.

Nunan Butterfly Garden

Just outside of the Mount Dora library sits a beautiful butterfly garden that is free to visit. It is home to many species of pollinators, as well as birds and animals.

Spook Hill

Just outside Orlando is one of the most famous “gravity hills” in the world. You park your car at the bottom, put it in neutral, then sit and watch as you roll uphill.

Free Kids Bowling at Aloma Bowling Centers

Sign the kids up for free bowling all summer long at Aloma bowling. Kids 15 and under can bowl two games for free. Shoe rental not included. Must pre-register kids for pass.

Lake Nona presents Art After Dark every Friday night.  Join in the fun for the whole family.  Art After Dark showcases local artists and their art displays, live music, demonstrations, and special exhibitions.

Fridays on the Plaza

Bring the entire family to downtown Winter Garden to enjoy live music every Friday evening during Fridays on the Plaza. This month enjoy patriotic music, country music, jazz and more.

Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive

Approximate drive time: 2 hours
Known as one of the top three birding areas in the state, this 11-mile drive-thru wildlife sanctuary is FREE, open to the public, and a favorite among locals. Be ready to marvel at an abundance of sunbathing alligators and even the occasional otter or bobcat. There are several stops along the drive to pull over and stretch your legs, as well as portable restrooms and picnic pavilions at the pump house.  An audio tour, birding checklist, and butterfly checklist can all be found on the LAWD website. The drive is open from Friday-Sunday, 7am-5pm, and on federal holidays. Vehicles must exit by 5pm, so plan on arriving no later than 3pm.

Sunset Walk Car Shows & Live Music 

Every Saturday Evenings from 4 – 11 p.m. Join The Promenade at Sunset Walk is home to Show Car Saturday Nights. All makes and models are welcome and displayed along Margaritaville Boulevard. Car enthusiasts will enjoy the music of DJ Scotty B while admiring an amazing collection of classic to modern automobiles. The best live bands also share the Promenade Plaza Stage nightly.

Throughout the evening, find your favorite restaurants and shops at the Promenade at Sunset Walk.

Starting Tuesday September 14th through Saturday September 18th stop by Calliope Street , between the hours of 12pm-6pm to pick up your scavenger hunt form. Little explorers will travel throughout the mall on a scavenger hunt. Once you’ve completed your hunt, return your sheet to Calliope Street for your prize!! All participants Ages 12 & Under will receive a prize courtesy of Calliope Street!
